Heath Care Financing Previous Public Discussions from 1993 to 2004

Given the problems arising from the ageing population, increasing medical costs and community expectations, the financial sustainability of our health care system and the need for a new arrangement has long been seriously concerned by both the Government and the community. In fact, the Government has conducted a number of public consultations in the past decade to seek views from the community on the appropriate way forward. The following sections give an account on the past consultation documents since the 1990s. A more detailed report on our recent research and the public reaction will then be followed.
